This Memorial weekend, Stay-N-Play Pet Ranch wants to make sure everyone has a solid comprehension of your pet’s limitations during hot weather.

As this weekend is the kick-off of Summer, we hope to bestow some friendly reminders to all our animal lovers.

  1. Limiting outdoor activities during the hottest times of the day. Go for walks/runs with your pet during the early morning hours or after the sun has set to limit your dog’s exposure to the heat of the sun.
  2. Taking advantage of shade. Finding shady trails around your neighborhood, especially those with greenbelts and/or gravel trails would help to protect your dog’s paws from hot asphalt or concrete.
  3. Providing plenty of fresh cool water. Always have your dog’s water bowl filled with clean, drinkable water throughout the day.
  4. Resist the temptation to shave off all your pet’s hair. A dog’s coat can protect them from sunburn, as well as providing them with some cooling insulation.

With these four tips in mind, you and your beloved companion will have an amazing Summer.
